Kari Lambden (Physiotherapy)
Kari graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy and in 1994, she became an owner of Bonavista Physical Therapy Clinic. She has taken numerous post-graduate courses, getting her Certificate of Medical Acupuncture (University of Alberta) in 1998, and the Intermediate Diploma of Advanced Manual and Manipulative Therapy (Part A) in 2005. She became credentialed in the McKenzie Method (MDT) in 2008, and has been doing orthotics for 12 years. Years of competitive mountain bike racing, recreational cross country skiing, swimming and running have made Kari all too familiar with many of the injuries she treats on a daily basis!
Audrey Long (Physiotherapy)
Audrey is kindly referred to as the “back (or neck) lady”. She received her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Western Ontario in 1984, has since practiced in many different settings and has had exposure to a wide variety of conditions. She especially enjoys the challenge of sorting out neck and shoulder problems, or back and hip problems using the McKenzie Method (www.mckenziemdt.org). In 1993 she traveled to New Zealand to attend the advanced McKenzie course earning a Diploma in Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment. Audrey now teaches courses on this method to therapists across Canada and in the United States. She has published two research papers in the journal Spine and continues to be involved in clinical research.
Gord Routledge (Physiotherapy)
Gord graduated in 1989 from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Medicine (Physical Therapy) with Distinction. His areas of clinical specialization include Sports Physiotherapy, Acupuncture, Intra-Muscular Stimulation (I.M.S.), and McKenzie Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment of Spine Disorders. Gord’s career highlights to date include Men’s National Team physiotherapist with Hockey Canada from 1992-94, 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway, and 1994 World Ice Hockey Championships in Milan, Italy. He spent three years in Sweden working for Leksand Stars in the Swedish Elite Hockey League from 1995-98. Gord is currently part-owner in Bonavista Physical Therapy and Massage.
Merrylee McDougall (Physiotherapy)
Merrylee graduated in 2009 from the University of Alberta with a Masters of Science in Rehabilitation Medicine with Distinction. With a Bachelors of Kinesiology from the University of Calgary and a long history of competitive athletics including figure skating and track and field, she loves to work with athletes on rehabilitating and preventing injuries. She has continued her post-graduate education by completing her Level I certification in Manual and Manipulative Therapy and Part B McKenzie training, as well as many other manual therapy and exercise based courses, including Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation. Outside of the athletic realm, she is pursuing certification in Return to Work testing and has been a presentor at ergonomic and safety tradeshows. No matter what type of injury or condition being treated, Merrylee is most passionate about educating individuals on what is causing the injury, how to rehabilitate it and how to prevent it from happening again.
Dana Mitchell (Physiotherapy and Fully Certified STOTT Pilates Instructor)
Dana graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy with distinction from the University of Alberta in 1995. Dana has worked in private practice, orthopaedics, and sports injury clinics and has always had a special interest in core strengthening. That interest has been the drive behind taking advanced Physiotherapy courses and lectures in core strength, core stability and pursuing certification in Pilates. Dana now focuses on core stability, injury prevention, and health promotion through Pilates based therapy. Dana has achieved her advanced Certification levels in STOTT Pilates (Matwork and all equipment) and now offers therapeutic Pilates and Core strengthening in private 1:1 sessions or small group classes through Good 2 the Core Pilates offered at Bonavista Physio. Susan Higgins (Massage Therapy)
Susan is a Licensed and Registered Massage Therapist who thoroughly enjoys applying her skills to therapeutic massage at Bonavista Physical Therapy and Massage. Her Professional Massage Therapist training from Mount Royal College is supported by a Bachelor degree in Biological Sciences from McGill University. Susan recommends massage therapy to help relieve pain associated with muscle tension as well as the many symptoms resulting from the stress of everyday living. Massage therapy can compliment your physical therapy treatments or stand alone as a therapeutic treatment in its own right. Jodi Montgomery (Massage Therapy)
After graduating from the University of Calgary in Athletic Therapy, Jodi completed schooling in both relaxation and therapeutic massage. She then continued to compete with Canada’s National Luge Team for 8 years. Jodi’s over 19 years of therapeutic experience has enabled her to become proficient at resolving a number of issues. Athletic related injuries, headaches, and motor vehicle accident injuries to name a few. Jodi understands the body’s healing process well and is committed to helping her clients recover quickly and completely.
Anita Szuster (Shiatsu Therapist)
Anita Szuster is a practising Shiatsu Therapist of 17 years and a Massage Therapist of 12 years. Anita had her own practise in Banff and held the position of Lead Massage Therapist at the world renowned Banff Centre. She is currently an instructor of Shiatsu and Massage Therapy at Mount Royal University. Anita is also trained in Myofacial Release, Sports Massage, pre and post natal massage, Reiki and Therapeutic Touch.
